Virginia Biomass Energy Group
Welcome to PPV's introduction to the Virginia Biomass Energy Group (VBEG). VBEG has a website at www.virginiabiomass.org, through which you can become a member. The 1st Annual Meeting for this group was held on Feb. 11, 2009.
The mission of VBEG is to promote biomass energy production in the Commonwealth through coordination and collaboration between university researchers, governmental & nongovernmental agencies, policymakers, industry professionals, resource managers, sustainable energy advocates and other stakeholders. VBEG’s goal is to encourage and foster growth of the biomass energy industry in a sustainable, profitable and responsible manner. It is this collaborative group, working to identify and quantify the state’s biomass resources and to develop environmentally and economically viable strategies for increasing their use, which guides and assists PPV in developing its biomass energy policies.
VBEG has more than 100 members and Public Policy Virginia serves as its administrative office. VBEG meets quarterly, and has a Steering Committee of 23 individuals, representing all segments of biomass stakeholders. In addition to it's internal network mailing list and website, VBEG has a closed discussion list serv on Google. If you are in the biomass field and are interested in joining VBEG or learning more about our activities, please contact administrator Tatyanna Patten at tpatten@ppvir.org.
